New Leatherman Sheath

I like multitools. I have had a swiss army knife (a Wenger) in my pocket since my 10th birthday (almost 40 years ago). And for my 20th birthday I got a Leatherman PST, which has been in my belt ever since. I always carry them both, and I often use them both (several times during the last weekend actually).

But when you carry it daily, things get worn. My swiss army has had both it side plates falling off. They have been glued on again, and the knife blade lock doesn’t work anymore due to wear. Otherwise it is working perfectly as it did the first day. The leatherman is still working very well, only with a minor damage to the smallest falt screwdriver (never let anyone without good judgement borrow your tools). The sheath of the leatherman, on the other hand, lasts about 10 years before it is shot. Luckily it has been not too difficult finding a new one - up until now, that is.

It surprised how it suddenly was difficult to find one at a reasonable cost. I found worn ones on eBay for far too high prices, and I gave up. What I ended up doing was to order a hand made new one from Hidden Leather.

The new one looks great! It has a bit thicker and stiffer leather, but that will hopefully make it last longer too. The rivets on the backside stand out a bit more than the original, but it doesn’t bother me. I wonder if it will wear my clothes somewhat more. The button is stiffer, but I can’t remember anymore how the original one was when it was new.

In general I am very happy! This will make my Leatherman last a lot longer. It would be stupid replacing a perfectly good tool to a worn sheath!
